Our best attended meeting yet, forty members filled the Emily Hobhouse Room at the Public Hall, Liskeard.
First of all, Paul Mills, South West Regional Organiser, spoke to the members about the latest news from Head Office and how the constituencies in Cornwall were progressing.
Next, the election for Vice Chair and Treasurer were held. There were three applicants for Vice Chair and two for Treasurer. Angus Plowright was elected Vice Chair and Louisa Hawken became our Interim Treasurer. Applicants were happy to assist the Branch in any way they can and their knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the Branch.
Questions from the floor were directed to Paul Mills and Rob Parsons (Cornwall Coordinator) and there followed a lively debate between members on a variety of subjects. Much of the conversation was about the upcoming Council elections in May 2025. Contributions were made by existing Parish Councillors and others who had stood for election, imparting a wealth of personal experience to the members.
Reform UK needs to contest as many seats in as many wards as possible both in the upcoming elections and any future by-elections. Training will be offered in the New Year and if this is something that interests you, please get in touch with the Branch Chair at reformchairsec@gmail.com
or the Secretary at ruksec@macace.net
